What to Expect for Seward Weather
Did you know most tour companies in Alaska do not cancel t solely due to rain? Do you know why? Some of the most beautiful days in coastal Alaska are rainy days! Seward is located in the largest temperate rain forest in the world and we average nearly 70 inches of precipitation annually. Most experiences are great fun rain or shine, with the right gear. We encourage you to prepare yourself for Seward's 'liquid sunshine' by following a few guidelines.
Always bring layers, even if the sun is shining. We recommend a light, quick-drying (poly-pro or wool), under layer, a quick-drying, insulating mid-layer and a water-proof over-layer for both jacket and pants.
Avoid cotton and definitely skip the jeans. Once cotton or denim is wet you're cold and you'll stay cold.
Wear waterproof or water-resistant footwear. Investing in a good pair of trail hiking shoes can go a long way in keeping you comfortable.
